MOJITOP.COM is just a group of friends rooted in Barcelona, who would like to contribute to improve the level of the mojitos in the city.
We like to do expeditions in the city, and sometimes we invite the blog followers.
If you have suggestions, you are more than welcome to share them with us too!
We like to "conquer" Bars, which means to visit them and evaluate their mojitos.
About barris, we often visit Gràcia, Poble Sec, Raval and Born, but we've also been to more exotic places like Eixample and Barceloneta.
To explore all the possibilities, we also try out different recipes for mojitos and their variations.
Also from time to time we'll report on curisities related to mojitos, like the mojitos we taste in other cities.
Interviews and stories about interesting people are in this blog.

Mojitop in Italy 2 - Al molo: great mojito by the lake!

Address: Lungo Lario Trieste 9, 22100 Como (Italy)

After la Trattoria Toscana in Milan city, the 2nd moijto-stop in our short tour in Italy was in Como. There's where we had the chance to enjoy a great mojito "new fashion" by the "Lago de Como" (some km to the north of Milan, also known because George Clooney lives there)

Price: 5.50€ - 5€ during happy hour (from 18 to 21)
Average mark: 8 (max 10 points; evaluated by 3 mojixp's)

As you can see from the great mark - this was a GREAT mojito!!
The "new fashion" title came from the slight recipe change that they included - they used tonic water instead of soda which gave it a very nice bitter taste - similar to what other bars try to achieve by adding angostura. The result was very balanced, fresh and nice :)

The main characteristics of the mojito were:
  • large glass
  • crushed ice (which was superclear - made from very pure water we believe)
  • fresh mint
  • fresh lime (more than in most mojitos we've tried so far)
  • tonic water
  • white rum
  • brown sugar
  • 2 black straws
Also, since it was time for "Aperitivo" (=servizio con simpatici stuzzichini)- a nice tradition found in Milan and its surroundings, we got some appetizers for free with the drinks. Which, as we commented in other occasions, a great idea to help process and truly enjoy the mojito, also after a while.

By the way, they has also Coconut Mojito in this bar (with Malibú)!. Maybe next time....

Very remarkably, this was the first time all evaluators agreed!! We all gave it the same mark, and a very high one for our standards - so no doubt, if you have the chance, visit the Como lake - which offers astonishing views, interesting bits of history, calm atmosphere with both water and mountains - and GREAT mojitos!!

PS: Thank you Becs!

  1. oh my god. Transparency has little to do with purity. They boil the water before freezing it, to release al gases solved inside.

If I ever get there, I'll have one mojito. Hope I'll agree
