MOJITOP.COM is just a group of friends rooted in Barcelona, who would like to contribute to improve the level of the mojitos in the city.
We like to do expeditions in the city, and sometimes we invite the blog followers.
If you have suggestions, you are more than welcome to share them with us too!
We like to "conquer" Bars, which means to visit them and evaluate their mojitos.
About barris, we often visit Gràcia, Poble Sec, Raval and Born, but we've also been to more exotic places like Eixample and Barceloneta.
To explore all the possibilities, we also try out different recipes for mojitos and their variations.
Also from time to time we'll report on curisities related to mojitos, like the mojitos we taste in other cities.
Interviews and stories about interesting people are in this blog.

Mojitos at ELSA BAR - Cuban but below expectations

Address: Torrent de l'Olla 78 (Gràcia)

After visiting the Raïm bar, we jumped two doors away and went to another well-known Cuban bar: Elsa Bar.

Let's describe the mojitos:
  • White rum Ypióca
  • Dark rum Porthos
  • Lemon Syrup (Pulco)
  • White sugar
  • Fresh mint
  • No lime
  • Small ice cubes
  • Angostura
  • Small glass
  • With a straw and a shaker-mixer stick
  • 6€
If you have read the review for the Raïm bar, I'm sure the above mentioned items ringed you a bell...YES--> It was basically the same! A bit less disappointing but still below expectations.

Average mark: 6.3 (out of max. 10 points; evaluated by 4 mojiexperts and 2 nice invited people)

The mojito lacked lime, without any doubt. Pulco is just not good!

Elsa Bar is quite small and it was very crowded. It was too crowded, actually, and adding the cigarettes' smoke, it wasn't comfortable at all: after half an hour it was even stifling!

The bar is decorated with photos and documents, many about Cuba and about a blond woman singing. The blond woman was actually at the bar, looking at the people in silence beside the person who was preparing the mojitos. She must be Elsa.

  1. Yes, after all our testing, we are becoming critical. I also had higher expectations about the mojito, and the bar. I think the smoke ruined a great part of the experience. But after all, our mission is to find our favourite places for mojitos, so we have to be honest.

  2. Sorry, but real mojitos (original ones) don't have lime!
