MOJITOP.COM is just a group of friends rooted in Barcelona, who would like to contribute to improve the level of the mojitos in the city.
We like to do expeditions in the city, and sometimes we invite the blog followers.
If you have suggestions, you are more than welcome to share them with us too!
We like to "conquer" Bars, which means to visit them and evaluate their mojitos.
About barris, we often visit Gràcia, Poble Sec, Raval and Born, but we've also been to more exotic places like Eixample and Barceloneta.
To explore all the possibilities, we also try out different recipes for mojitos and their variations.
Also from time to time we'll report on curisities related to mojitos, like the mojitos we taste in other cities.
Interviews and stories about interesting people are in this blog.

Mojitos @ Amberes - Great mojito in a blue stylish and calm athmosphere

Address: c/ Perla 34 (Gràcia) 08012 Barcelona

Average mark: 7.83 (out of max 10, evaluated by 3 mojixp's)
Price: 6€ (happy hour till 22h)

So...have you noticed what a great mark we've given this mojito?? Wanna know the reason behind it? Then all you have to do is keep reading!

Let's start with the facts about the mojito:
  • White rum - Havana 3
  • 3 teaspoons of white sugar
  • Fresh mint, crushed
  • Fresh lemon juice
  • Angostura
  • Little ice cubes, a bit crunched
  • Medium-sized glass
  • 2 black straws
The waitress is Brazilian and was very nice to us, we asked as usual about the recipe and the type of rum used and she was eager to know more about our website. If you're reading this, hi! And leave a comment please!

About the feeling of the mojito and its great mark, despite it didn't contain lime as it's supposed to:
We don't know, it was simply great. Very balanced, very citric, very minty, very refreshing - what you should expect from a solid mojito. The only drawbacks would be there was a lot of ice, which stayed long after the drink was finished and that the mint was a bit too crushed and sometimes got into your teeth.

You might have also noticed it didn't contain any soda or tonic water or anything in that way. We asked and the waitress and she said she just ads mineral water in case the mojito comes out too strong.
She also shared that when the bar is crowded and they run out of fresh lemon juice, they use concentrated "Pulco" which we also experienced in other places - and she said some people complain - they have a reason to do so - it is NOT the same!!

And last but not least - the place. The music was calm, the place itself is all blue, they have cosy sofas and some stylish hanging chairs. Luckily it was also quite empty (it was Tuesday) so we felt comfortable there. A bit smokey however.

On that note: mojitop proposes bars to forbid smoking. Bars are for drinking!!

A very special thankyou to our super-delegate in Belgium, Raquel :)
